Technology regarding the measurement of drilling parameters consists of measuring and recording physical values in real time, the variations of which are in correlation with geomechanical properties of crossed soil. The physical values considered as the most characteristic drilling parameters are depth, instantaneous advance speed, thrust and restraint pressure, water pressure, torque, rotary speed, vibralog (reflected percussion wave), and flow rates of water, mud and air. All these parameters are recorded and can be transferred to a PC for processing or edited in real time if an integrated graphic printer system is used.

Inspired by the technology used by petrol companies in diverted drilling, the TIGOR is a instrumented drilling rod including the deviation measure sensors, and embarked electronics and batteries. The system compromises a 1 meter long magnetic rod and is available in 2 versions, single jet and double jet. The single jet version includes a central conduit that allows the drilling fluid or high pressure grout to pass through the TIGOR to the jet. The double jet version includes a central conduit that allows the drilling fluid or high pressure grout to pass through the TIGOR to the jet, and a lateral conduit for the passage of air to the second jet.

This technique is adopted in several cases in order to drive sheet piles into the ground. The PREVO is a Pressure Volume Controller (CPV) for the measurement of ground geomechanical properties according to the principle of the expansion of a cylindrical cavity. Power supplied by the rig battery and a compressed air bottle, the PREVO servovalves regulate the pressure levels of the test automatically. The stress applied (during the stages or in between the stages) is perfectly controlled by the PREVO regulation, working in a closed loop. The upholding of the stress is fully controlled and in spite of this solicitation it remains independent from the ground reaction. The stress procedure (stage, time) can be either manually controlled by the operation or automatically driven by a BAP160 connected to the PREVO.

Flight auger piling requires the control of parameters in real time in order to ensure that the pile has been correctly carried out. Real time information is needed on concrete pressure and volume, over-consumption of concrete, mast verticality, and depth. Indeed, the risks involved with such piles are either the cutting of the pile because of an accidental lack of concrete or too much pressure in the soil, or the extravagant overconsumption of concrete.

In continuous flight auger piling (CFA), the TARALOG is the measuring device. The measured parameters in the drilling phase are depth, rotation (RPM), torque pressure, and mast inclination. The measured parameters in the concrete phase are concrete flow and volume, concrete pressure etc. The TARALOG has a graphic screen. It develops the pile profile in real time, as it is being done, in order to help the driller keep to the limits of pressure and overconsumption of concrete. These recorded parameters are edited onto the computer to develop the pile log. The TARALOG can also be installed on cranes with swinging leads.

Jetgrouting consists of injecting cement grout into the soil under very high pressure. Under the effect of the jet, the ground is destroyed and then mixed with cement. This process is used with rods which rotate and go back up to the surface during drilling, in order to make a column. In bijet, two fluids and air under pressure are simultaneously injected. This is done in order to concentrate the jet cone and thus improve efficiency by concentrating the energy. In trijet, three fluids are injected. This is a ground strengthening technique, affected by a powerful torpedo shaped vibrating poker (vibroflot). The latter creates a void in which a compacted stone column is formed (vibro-displacement), or its energy compacts the in-situ soil (vibro-compaction).
